All you need to know about Lit 2025
Bookings
Tickets are available through our venue partner, Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery. Buy online at https://shop.sarjeant.org.nz/collections/lit-whanganui-booklovers-festival, in person at the gallery front desk, or by phoning 06 349 0506. Tickets purchased online will be emailed – no physical ticket is necessary. There is no booking charge. We encourage pre-purchasing your tickets to avoid disappointment as door sales are not guaranteed.
Ticket prices
Pre-bought tickets $15; Door sales $20 (if available); Dinner with Small Talks $65 (no door sales); Earlybird season ticket $110 (excludes Saturday night dinner).
Earlybird season tickets
Save by purchasing a season ticket for $110 before 31 August. The season ticket cost excludes Saturday night’s dinner.
Refreshments
Drinks and refreshments can be purchased at the Sarjeant Gallery café from 10am until 4pm daily.
Parking
War Memorial: Parking is available in Watt St, and on the forecourt directly outside the building.
Sarjeant Gallery Parking is available on Pukenamu Queen’s Park reserve on Pukenamu Dr, or on adjacent streets.
Musicians’ Club Street parking is available on Watt or Ridgway Sts.
Accessibility
War Memorial Centre The main entrance provides flat access to the ground floor.
Sarjeant Gallery Two mobility parking spaces are available directly outside the gallery. The entrance is accessible, and wheelchair-accessible toilets are provided. Wheelchairs are available for use inside the gallery at no charge.
Musicians’ Club There is a designated drop-off area outside the venue. Please note there is a small step at the entrance. Lit volunteers will be on hand to assist if needed, however, no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are available at this venue.
How to get to Lit 2025 venues
Whanganui’s frequent bus service Te Ngaru The Tide runs every 20 mins with a stop on Watt St at the base of Pukenamu Park.
Mon–Fri: 7am to 7pm. Sat: 9am–3pm.
Fri night: hourly 7pm–11pm.
