Literary Festival Line up confirmed

Now is the time to unveil our amazing line-up of top-class authors who will feature in our 10th biennial festival.

In no particular order, they are:

• Award-winning novelist, Fiona Sussman, who gave up her stethoscope to become a full-timewriter. Fiona’s works are popular amongst Whanganui’s many book clubs.

• Witi Ihimaera, back by popular demand, will feature twice. Firstly, he will introduce, with his co-editors, poets, Kiri Piahana Wong and Vaughan Rapatahana, the ground-breaking double-anthology of Māori writing, and later in an interview with Kiri he will talk about his 50 years as a Māori writer, and his work as an eminent leader in indigenous writing.

• Historian, Jock Phillips, with a long list of engaging history books to his name, will use aslide show to discuss the items highlighted in his latest, A History of New Zealand in 100 Objects,

• Novelists, Stephanie Johnson and Sue McCauley will discuss their latestworks. They are both widely published renowned writers across many genres,

• Investigative journalist, author and educator, Stephen Davis will help demystify conspiracy theories,

• Poet, Chris Tse, will talk about his life and works as the current Poet Laureate, and

• Gardener extraordinaire, Gordon Collier, will take us up the garden path and explain how at age 84, and red/green colour-blind he can create garden magic.

The brochure with full details of all events, times and costs, including the fabulous Fringe line-up, will be launched in July. Meantime diary these dates, September 20 – October 01 including the Fringe, so you don’t miss out on any of these life-affirming talks.
